def one of the best viet spots in houston and a spot i keep coming back to! more expensive compared to other spots but the portions are large and i always have leftovers. there's a lot of different items on the menu so there's something for everyone. everything ive had so far has been really good but it is on the sweeter side. their bánh bột chiên and bánh khọt are both super crispy! the grilled meat that comes with the cơm tấm đặc biệt is also marinated really well and the nuoc mam/sauce it comes with has a unique flavor i think it has kumquat (?) tip: - if you need extra spice make sure to ask them for fresh chili peppers - if you pay with cash you get a 5% discount ig: @whatsviveating

Service was super quick and you know the food is made fresh because it does take some time to cook once it's ordered depending on what you order. I was in Houston for two weeks and went here twice! They're always packed whether you go on a Saturday or a Wednesday. We tried their com suong , canh bun, banh canh cua, pha lau and banh khot both styles! It was honestly all delicious! The pha lau and cảnh bun are a must try!!

The food tasted really authentic. Our favorites would have to be the Banh Khot Vung Tau and Banh Khot. They were crisp to perfection at the edges and full of flavor, the nuoc mam and veggies paired perfectly with it. Also ordered the Oc Canada (snails), the seasoning was delicious, but felt like they skimped on the quantity for the price we paid for. Didn't get a picture of the grilled squid or the grilled scallops that we also ordered. Grilled squid was yummy but was pretty spicy, the sauce that it came with has a kick to it as well but was so good. The grilled scallops was the worst dish we had ordered. Scallops tasted like it had freezer burn and no flavor even though it was doused in the garlic onion, almost tasted plasticky. Inside can get pretty hectic and loud but I guess it kind of gives off the local Vietnam vibes. Servers were meh, felt rushed to order and they were not very attentive when it comes to refilling waters, but honestly kind of expected for a Vietnamese joint. Overall, I would still come back here to try some other dishes and the Banh Khot Vung Tau again!

Parking lot was pretty packed by the restaurant so it was a hot stroll to the restaurant. It's not as small but it's very packed inside. We ordered the bun rieu oc, Banh khot, the organs in coconut broth and butter garlic sauce. The bun rieu was good, the oc was good. I didn't like that organ in the coconut broth. I've never had it and I won't try it again. I like organs in a ginger dip sauce which they do give you. The Banh khot was ok. It was crispy outside but I did not like how mushy the inside of it was. I've never had Banh khot with a mushy interior. We'll be back to try other dishes.

We came here when we visit Houston, and even my picky Vietnamese parents gave this place 5 Stars! The bo luc lac was my favorite, it was so tender and flavorful with big chunks of garlic. The rice it comes with is delicious as well!

Let me just start with saying that this place does their Bún (noodle soup) dishes very well. From Bún bò huế (spicy beef noodle soup) to Bún riêu (crab&pork tomato noodle soup) , their noodle soup dishes are phenomenal and brings forward the culture of Vietnamese cuisine. Their portions are no joke, they include every detail like tofu and chả while maintaining a flavorful broth in each dish. For the more explorative peeps, the Bún Đậu Mắm Tôm (vermicelli with fermented shrimp paste) the sauce was tasty (sweet)! This is not a dish that you can commonly find so it was nice to see it being highlighted as their special dish. The Bánh khọt (mini savory pancakes) was a fun dish to eat if you wanted to change up the texture. It was a great crunchy mixture of sweet and savory with the coconut and nước mắm (fish sauce), this dish has to be eaten quickly as they get soggy after being left out. The place can get crowded on a weekend with a bigger party (ours was 10 people) but the service was quick and our food came out in an orderly manner. I would definitely recommend this place as it does a great job showcasing Việt food.

One of those hole in the wall kind of place. Walking in, you can pretty much expect that the Viet food will be good. They do have English on the menu and the staff speaks a bit of English. It was a bit crowded but we got seated after a few minutes of waiting. They have a variety of Viet dishes on the menu from soup noodles, appetizers, and seafood. Their banh bot chien is probably one of their most popular dish and it was extra crispy. Exactly what you would expect it to be and the sauce goes so well with it. The bun rieu oc is what I was looking forward to because it's one of those Viet dish that you don't see it often on the menu. I'm always looking for the best I can find and this one was at the top of the list. Flavorful broth and you can tell from looking at the color. We also had the pha lau which was my first time trying. Not everyone's cup of tea. It's like a curry broth with offal so beware if this isn't something you're used to. Also comes with bread to dip in the broth. Service was a bit slow, it was packed inside. Definitely worth checking out.

One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in Houston for Banh Khot! Banh Khot is a savory little pancake with shrimp in the middle. It's described as a pancake but its more like a mini muffin with incredibly crisp edges thanks to the special cast iron pan its cooked in. If you like Banh Xeo, this is like it's fun younger sister! You eat it wrapped in all the fresh greens and dipped into fish sauce. So so good. The crisp edges, the bite of shrimp contrasted with the leafy greens dipped in the fish sauce is like heaven on earth. The portion is HUGE and is definitely meant to share. My plate came with 10 pieces and was so delicious. My jaw DROPPED when they placed it on our table. I also ordered the pickled kumquat drink (a must) and the coconut snails. Yes, coconut snails or Öc Len Xão Dua! These little suckers are deliciously cooked in a lemongrass coconut sauce. Pro tip on how to eat these - open up the bottom and suck it out! You get the perfect combo of sauce and snails! Some are a little harder to get out so use the provided mini forks. Love this place and always a recommended restaurant as a Vietnamese gal.
